Dear friends,
I am writing to you now because you have been a part of life’s journey with my family and me, both its joys and sorrows. We would like to call upon you again to both share with us and uplift us in prayer in another venture.
All of us have heard of the recent devastation as a result of the earthquake in Haiti. Just recently an opportunity emerged to go to that island nation and be a part of disaster relief efforts there.
On March 11-22 a team of five men and one woman will support the ministry of several churches in Haiti and complete construction on a girls’ orphanage as well as investigate future opportunities to build more orphanages, a pastoral training center, and participate in training Haitian church leadership as four hundred pastors in attendance at a conference in Port-au-Prince were killed in the earthquake.
If you or your family are looking for an opportunity to support relief efforts in Haiti I ask that you consider Connect 2 Ministries (connect2ministries.net) or Caribbean Vision Ministries (caribbeanvisionministries.org).
All of us on the team are acutely aware that in and of ourselves we cannot serve the Lord or the people of Haiti as effective instruments apart from His grace, which we need so desperately with you supporting all of us through your prayers. Therefore, please pray for us.
May the gospel of God through Jesus Christ by His grace alone make your joy abound as we serve Him and embrace His mission to the nations together.
I hope to update you regularly once we are in Haiti on our progress on what is happening and how we are doing.
Grace reigns!
Vince
(Rom 5:20, 21)
Please pray:
In every situation and at all times that Christ would be magnified in all things and the gospel would be made known both verbally and incarnationally
A servant's mindset to serve Christ and a hurting and broken people with humility and trust in God's wisdom, goodness, and sovereignty
A humble, listening, flexible, and discerning approach to every situation as we serve outside of our own cultural context
A real commitment to unity together as a team as Keith Flashberger and I will be serving with two brothers and a sister we have never met
The Lord will delay the hurricane season a little while to maximize the work of every relief organization and allow for further opportunities to address the very serious sanitation problems
Optimum logistical support, so that all materials and resources are ready and available upon arrival to complete the task - building a girls' orphanage - in the time we're there
Wisdom and vision for long-term partnerships in mercy ministries as well as training future pastors and church leaders (400 pastors were killed in the earthquake)
Physical perseverance, stamina, and both short and long-term health (we began our 7 week malaria regimen this week)
